Not sure what to do after the season finale? Fear not there are plenty of shows similar to Billions to get stuck into. Showtime’s epic, high-stakes series shows no sign of slowing down (and lets face we love being a fly on the wall in the corridors of power).
If you’ve arrived here through searching for the next thing that is like ‘That Other Thing That We Like’ then I’m glad to be of service and I hope the new thing is EVEN better. Hooray for the internet!
Well this is awkward, because yes, it is like Billions, but can we say that it’s better? That is no shade on Billions by the way – there just isn’t a better show on TV than Succession. Blame Jesse Armstrong. On the off chance you’re been living on Mars, then a.) Cut that shit out, Bezos and b.) This is an ensemble piece about a family of awful, rich humans who are consistently terrible to one another. Shakespearean proportions of back-stabbing coupled with the most razor sharp dialogue you’ll find anywhere make this unmissable series. I’d watch it every day if I could.
Live Schreiber helms this oh-so Hollywood tale of a man who is paid to clean up the A-list messes in tinseltown. But of course, he is not so good at taking care of his personal problems. Multi-award winning, universally loved, excellent crime drama.
A brand spanking new series on the scene, starring Parks and Rec fave Adam Scott, this tells the tale of Mark, who leads a team of office workers whose memories have been surgically divided between their work and personal lives. Ew. When a mysterious colleague appears, it all gets a bit more complicated.
If I had a dollar for every time someone had asked me if I watch Ozark, I’d have about 12 bucks. But that is quite a lot of times to be asked if I’ve seen a show, to be fair. Jason Bateman and Laura Linney both shine in this complex and tense drama about a financial advisor who finds himself in a world of trouble as he attempts to evade a drug boss.
Sometimes known as the English answer to Succession, Industry attracted Lena Dunham as a director for the pilot. It tells the tale of a group of young finance graduates trying to get a job during the recession after the 2008 financial crisis. HBO co-produced with the BBC, and we all know that is a stamp of quality every time!
I’ve always had a secret crush on Giovanni Ribisi… and now it’s not such a secret anymore because I’ve just told all of you. I think it’s because he’s such a fantastic chameleon, and this is the perfect role for him as a con man who is trying to pull off the ultimate con – pretending to be someone else entirely. Tense is an understatement.
There is just so much fantastic TV these days that I sometimes forget about shows I loved a mere few years ago. Suits kicked off in 2011 (and is now on Netflix btw) Set in a New York City law firm, it follows two impossibly handsome lawyers, one of whom is only pretending to have an actual law degree. Some people are really good at blagging! Also worth noting: Meghan Markle appears as a paralegal. So it’s, like, royally good TV.
